Keep the Wrinkles at bay ...Love the skin you're in

Many things cause our skin to age. There are some  things we cannot influence and some that we can

We cannot influence the natural aging process or our Genetic make up.  With time, we all get visible lines on our face. It is natural for our face to lose some of its youthful fullness. As we get older our skin becomes thinner looses elasticity and also looses water more readily and therefore becomes drier . Our genes largely control when these changes occur. The medical term for this type of aging is “intrinsic aging.”

There are some elements of aging that affect our skin  that we can  influence  Our environment and lifestyle choices can cause our skin to age prematurely. The medical term for this type of aging is “extrinsic aging.” By taking some preventive actions, and early as in our teens for women and men  we can slow the effects that this type of aging has on our skin.

An easy and effective skin care regime is an  important habit to develop, as early as in your teens. Once we hit 21 years our collagen production drops by more than 30% and this is more marked in women than in men and also more in Caucasians than in Black and Asian or darker skinned people. Collagen is the main structural protein found in skin and other connective tissues. It is one of the proteins that gives the skin a youthful, fullness and glow.

It is important when choosing your daily skin care that it has ingredients that feed the skin and encourages the development of proteins like collagen. Some moisturisers contain collagen however such moisturisers are sometimes very expensive and truth be told do not always contain the collagen in the liposomal form that allows for effective absorption by the skin.

It is important to ensure your daily skin care provides the nourishment required to maintain youthful, glow to your skin without breaking the bank

Here are some of the ingredients to look out for when looking for effective daily moisturisers.

Essential Oils : Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Lavender oil, Rose Hip Oil, Frankincense Oil, Tea tree oil. Peppermint oil,

Humectants : Shea Butter, coco butter, Jojoba oil, coconut oil, Rapeseed oil

As analogy to food to nourish our bodies .. the essential oils are the micro nutrients . You don't need them in huge quantities but you need them to maintain healthy youth full skin

The Humectant are the bulking agents and provide  good building blocks for the skin so very important to choose skin care that uses one or most of these humectants as a base.

In addition to good moisturisers a good daily , weekly and monthly skin care regime is just as important as the moisturisers you choose to use . We have some tips on our website about formulating a simple skin care routine . The main thing is keep it simple

Daily : cleanse, scrub . moisturise

Weekly: Use a mask , clay or charcoal mask and finish with a face sheet mask.
